ASHALATA MEMORIAL TRUST (AMT) is an NGO formed in the year 2019 and registered as Trust. It is a non-profit making organization and engaged in activities for Preventive health care for human wellbeing for senior citizen of our society, mainly physical and mental health related treatment based on advance modern medicine, training and education. Organization obtained Income tax exemption U/S 80G and 12 AA as a Public charitable trust.
Several distinguished Doctors and eminent people of various professionals are extended their hands of cooperation to make the mission successful.
Introduction of President - AMT: Shri C. K. Chatterjee, a Bio Medical Engineer served the well-known the then Woodlands Nursing home (Under The East India Clinic Ltd.) Kolkata for fifteen years as a Bio Medical Engineer (Year 1988 to 2003). It was his realization during more than 40 years working experience in several hospital and social organizations, that senior citizen of our city requires rehabilitation both, physical and mental healthcare, for their wellbeing.
Shri Chatterjee held regular consultation on these above two issues with several distinguished retired senior citizen of various profession and conceived the idea to establish this organization exclusively for senior citizen and had conducted a series of personal interview with several senior citizens to understand their physical and Mental health status and expectation. We all are aware of the fact that, quite a large portion of young professionals of Kolkata have migrated to other States or country for academic or professional commitments. Quite naturally, many senior citizens of India and specially in Kolkata are facing several problems in their daily lives. This survey clearly indicated that these respected senior citizens, have a longing for mainly three things, namely:

Recreation and cultural activity with like-minded senior people in a suitable environment for relaxation, to minimise anxiety, stress and depression.

Basic medical assistance and guidance from a medical team to avoid any medical emergency and enjoy a healthy and happy life, under guidance of a physician with his team.

Traditional healthy and tasty food not generally available in hotel or restaurant and prepared under “Food Safety and Standards Authority of India” (fssai) certified kitchen as per guidance of a Nutritionist.
In order to meet the above need and expectations of the senior citizens, AMT has started a Centre dedicated to them only, and a charitable medical clinic for poor people. On 7th July, 2024,such a center was inaugurated with gracious presence of Shri Jyotirmay Bhattachary, Chief Justice (Retd.), Hon’ble Calcutta High Court and presently, Honorable Chairman, West Bengal Human Rights Commissions as chief guest, Prof. Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee Ex Prof. & HOD, Dept. of medicine , Kolkata medical college as Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. Dhiman Ganguli, Ex Prof. Dept. of Chest medicine, R G Kar Medical college as Guest of Honour, Secretary Maharaj, Bharat Sevashram Sangha hospital, Joka , Kolkata as special guest and Prof. Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya , Ex DME, Govt. of WB, as Guest of Honour.
Name of center: “A BETTER TOMORROW” for Recreation and cultural center of senior citizen as mental health rehabilitation and “ASHA WELLNESS CLINIC” for Physical wellbeing under guidance of a doctor with his team.
Mr. C K Chatterjee conceived the idea of this organization, but, this idea would not have materialized without the encouragement and dedicated active support of most respected Professor and Academician in the medical field like: Prof. Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee, Prof. Dr. Dhiman Ganguly, Prof. Dr. Siddhartha Chakraborty, and other several distinguished senior citizens of our city.
Since its inception, the center is receiving recognition and senior citizens are enjoying among themselves exchanging their thoughts in a happy peaceful environment, having cultural activity, and many more.
We are looking forward for all of your kind help and moral support to run this organisation for interest of senior citizen and for this act of kindness of yours, I shall be forever grateful.
